Welcome to American Legion Baseball

Since 1925, The American Legion has sponsored a nationwide youth baseball program.  During these past eight decades, millions of young players have enjoyed playing baseball.

The American Legion and their 2.8 million members have raised millions of dollars each
year for players to learn the importance of teamwork, discipline, leadership and good sportsmanship.

The American Legion sponsors American Legion Baseball to give players an opportunity to develop their skills, personal fitness, leadership qualities and to have fun.

Why Play Legion Baseball?

With the growing number of Independent baseball teams now competing in the St. Louis area, players have a tough choice to make...Independent or Organized? Since there are so many choices, area ballplayers (and parents) may become confused about what each program potentially offers. Below is a table comparing American Legion Baseball to the costs and features of local Independent leagues (costs are averaged and may vary slightly year to year).

American Legion features District, State, Regional and National playoffs. This year's World Series will be held at Keeter Stadium in Shelby, North Carolina. There is an All-Star game for AAA, AA and A programs each year and a Missouri-Illinois All-Star game. The 2011 Missouri-Illinois game will be held at Rascals Stadium in O'Fallon, MO.

American Legion Baseball is the only organized amateur association sponsored by Major League Baseball.
